As we all know, Rolex is often presenting incremental updates to its watches, hardly changing the whole spirit of a watch – even though, for certain models, these visually minor updates imply that almost no parts are carried over. On the other hand, the Celebration “multicolour bubble” dial is gone (in all sizes), as well as the coral red, turquoise blue and yellow editions. Also, the previously sunray-brushed black and dark blue editions are out. Only the silver edition with yellow gold hands and markers, and a sunray-brushed dial, has been kept intact.
But there’s more to the update… If you compare the old high quality fake Rolex 124300 watches to the new Rolex 134000 watches, you’ll note that the case has been slightly retouched. Sure, the proportions on paper are identical, with a 41mm diameter and a thickness of 11.6mm – we listed the 124300 back then at approximately 12mm, but the reality was 11.7mm. I wouldn’t say that Rolex made it thinner. In the same vein, the lug width is still 21mm. Yet, side by side, you can see that the shape of the lugs has been updated slightly, and these now appear a bit thinner, with a sharper angle at the tip. Just a bit more refined… The bezel also appears marginally thinner, yet retains its polished finish with a domed profile. It could be that this means a marginally smaller case, too, being shaved on the sides. Moving to the dial, the basics are kept, such as the baton markers in gold, doubled at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. For the rest, no changes technically.
